Discussion

Sunday, February 5: Light to moderate northerly winds will disperse pollutants and bring a clean air mass into the Youngstown region. These conditions will limit particle formation, yielding Good AQI levels.

Monday, February 6: Surface high pressure south of Ohio will generate moderate southwesterly winds in the Mahoning Valley, dispersing pollutants and resulting in Good AQI levels.

Tuesday, a cold front will move across Ohio, shifting winds from southwesterly to northerly in the Youngstown region. These winds will disperse pollutants, keeping AQI levels Good. Wednesday, as surface high pressure builds in from the west, northerly winds will diminish, limiting pollutant dispersion in the Mahoning Valley. However, a dry air mass over the region will limit particle formation. Therefore, AQI levels will remain Good. Thursday, moderate southwesterly winds ahead of an approaching cold front will disperse pollutants in the Youngstown region, resulting in Good AQI levels. Friday, as the cold front moves across Ohio, moderate northwesterly winds behind it will disperse pollutants and bring a clean air mass into the Mahoning Valley, keeping AQI levels Good.
